If you told me a year ago that I'd be launching my own life coaching business, I probably would have looked at you like you were crazy. Hell, I was trying to get my own life in order, how on Earth could I help someone else!
That is typically how our brains work. Creating stories why we aren't good enough, qualified enough, pretty enough, ENOUGH! Last year I decided that I WAS enough, and I could gain complete control of my world and happiness. My happiness for so many years always came last. I'm a people pleaser, always have been. I crave that validation that people like me and that I am doing a good job at life. Here is what is funny, I was doing great at life. I will always treat people with the utmost respect, because I am a firm believer in treating people the way you want to be treated. The stories in my head were holding me back from acknowledging all of the things that I was doing right!
We all witness it and sometimes are a victim of living a double life. You know, real life vs social media! Lol. No joke, I was a mess, mentally and spiritually. But on social media I was living the dream life... of lies.
Not many people will admit when they need help figuring ish out. Honestly, how do you know when it's time to give in and ask for the help?
I'd been Facebook stalking my current coach, for a while. Trying to figure out how the heck this girl had so much to celebrate, like ALL THE TIME! Literally you guys, my girl is a legit expert at poppin champagne bottles lol. This lifestyle she was living caught my attention. She seemed so happy and free, and I wanted to know how I could get there. I desperately NEEDED to get to my happy place and I didn't know where to begin. Every time I thought I was there, I'd evaluate things and it was not champagne poppin worthy lol.
It wasn't until my she made her big announcement that she was officially resigning from her corporate job and solely focusing on living without limits and helping other women do the same. At that moment, I was in! I sent her a message asking for the details, and the rest was magical.
It took me a long time before I shared with anyone that I had a life coach. Like what? I could hear the backlash now. "Black people don't do Life Coaching." I don't know who on Earth created this rule, but it's so far from the truth and honestly, more people need to hear this. Self help can only go so far and reaching out to family and friends for advice, when their situation really isn't much better, is a recipe for disaster. It's like they say, you can't take advice for your marriage from a friend who can't keep a man. The company of misery will drain every ounce of life from you.
So here I am, happier than I've ever been! Like, LEGIT HAPPY! I've learned so much about myself on this journey. Now I stand, holding the keys to my dream life, and it's closing day!
I AM OFFICIALLY OPEN FOR BUSINESS! *pops champagne bottle*
